We have collected 10,294 ESTs of about 1,000 embryonic gonads(Shin et al., 2005), 10,944 ESTs of primodial germ cells separated by magnetic activated cell sorter from 7,955 embryonic gonads (Han et al., 2005). It is very valuable resource to study germ cell development because collecting chicken embryonic gonads is a very labor-intensive procedure. More importantly, it is almost impractical collecting large-scale embryonic germ cells from a mammalian system that develops in uterus. The ChickGCE mainly provide putative embryonic germ cell specific transcripts, significance test of expression pattern in pairwise comparison of two libraries and embryonic germ cell specific alternative splicing forms in chicken.
